Bright New Gems is a UK-wide, industry-supported mentoring programme and showcase for graduating BA and MA jewellery design students. Over the past two decades, we’ve supported 92 graduates, helping them take their first steps into the commercial world.
The 6 successful BNG candidates win the chance to showcase their collections at the Retail Jewellery Festival 2026 and receive a year of valuable industry mentoring.
To Apply
Final year BA/BSC and MA graduates are invited to submit pieces from their graduate collections for judging. Complete and submit the attached application form.
The Brief
There are two categories to enter :
Show Off - Statement Pieces
Designs and/or finished pieces showing creative flair with innovative use of materials and which demonstrate potential commercial viability.
Responsible Thinking - Sustainable eco-heroes
Designs and/or finished pieces made with ethically sourced or sustainable materials and which demonstrate potential commercial viability.
Applicants can enter one or both of the categories. The two-degree groups will be judged separately, and four BA and two MA graduates will be selected as winners by the judges.
The Prize
The successful winners will benefit from:
Bright New Gems showcase their collections at the two-day UK Jewellery Festival, 16th and 17th March 2026.
Publicity and valuable online pre-show mentoring provided by Retail Jeweller, the National Association of Jewellers, and our judges.
A Benevolent Society bursary of £400 to help towards travel and exhibiting costs.
A six-month online membership to the GoldDust Collective with access to the vault of Masterclasses and the monthly live Masterclasses.
Guaranteed place on the Goldsmiths’ Centre online ‘Getting Started’ programme in March 2026.

Applications open on 1 June and close on 21 July 2025. There will be no time extensions so apply now!
All pieces will be judged by our expert panel of Bright New Gem judges.
